This is a Beginner Tutorial, easy to follow even when you’re new!
Before we begin, in this tutorial I make references to Coppermine Gallery, which is a popular php host for most Fansite Galleries. So, you are to most likely already have that installed. I also make reference to FileZilla, which is the FTP Program that is FREE to use and one of the most trusted FTP Programs around.

Now that we have Coppermine installed (in this tutorial, you will be seeing screenshots of a freshly installed Coppermine Gallery and shots of FileZilla.
The purpose of this tutorial is to help you keep your Photo Gallery organized and easier to find photos, especially if you need to quickly replace (for higher quality) or add more to the album. Using
- Sign into your FTP Account on FileZilla!
– Click on the Icon (photo) directly below File.
– This will open the Site Manager.
– In the Site Manager, click on the New Site button (photo) on the bottom left.
– It will prompt you to name the site, I usually name it the first name of my fansite that I’ll be working on. (photo)
– In the General tab after naming your site, you will want to fill out: HOST, PORT, USER, PASSWORD. (photo)
– Your HOST is usually ftp.yourdomain.com (yourdomain.com would be filled in with your domain name, such as obessingalone.org)
– Your PORT number is typically 21 for most. It’s like the default standard just about, it’s not always required though. I put it just to be on the safe side.
– Your USERNAME / PASSWORD is typically what you use to sign into your cPanel / DirectAdmin account.
– Click on Connect.
– You will usually only have to enter this information ONCE now that you saved it to the site manager. The only time you’ll need to re-enter this information is when you change the password. - After Connecting successfully, you will need to navigate to your gallery folders. For mine, this will be under /photos/albums/ but yours would most likely be under /gallery/albums/.
– Once in /photos/albums/ (photo), make a new folder and name it as your category. (such as appearances, photoshoots, etc)
– To make a new folder, you can right click –> create new directory OR you can click into the /albums/ box and press CTRL + SHIFT + N, then name the folder as that will bring the dialog box up immediately.
– I made the Others Folder for Other Projects (these folders would essentially be photo’s url, so you don’t want a super long url.), and inside that made folders for Shorts (Short Films) –> 2022 (year of the Film) –> TrickVR (shortened name of the Film)
– I also separate each one by what the photo is, but you can sort yours however you deem necessary. For mine, inside of the TrickVR folder, you’ll find BTS (Behind the Scenes), Stills, Shoot, Posters and Art. - Once you make your folder for what you need to upload, you just need to upload your files to the newly created folder.
– For this, I like to drag the images from File Explorer (Windows) into the new folder. This is a quicker method as opposed to user the box on the left, which I have only ever used once since I prefer Drag + Drop. - After uploading your files in FileZilla, you will need to go to your Coppermine Gallery and create the new album where you wish for it to be (if you haven’t already) and then go to Batch Add Files –> Select the Location where you uploaded the photos until you see filenames (001.jpg, etc.)
– Once you see the file names (001.jpg, 002.jpg, etc.) you will not see an OK button next to the path, you will click that.
– On the next screen, you will choose your album to upload into.
– Press Insert Selected Files. (photo) - You’re officially done! Repeat the process for your other images!
